Have you ever woken in the knight and was able to see your room with your eyes closed?

I was woken up one knight by the image of my room, I kept thinking to myself "why cant I stop seeing my room?". My eyes where shut tight and I even put my fingers over my eye lids to confirm that they where closed. I couldn't vividly see my room in color, it looked like when your seeing things in near darkness but in a noisy haze. Has any one else experienced this? is there a name for this?
