What is the "footprint" of a solar eclipse?

The "apparent" size of the sun and moon during a solar eclipse is startlingly close... but what is the actual size of the umbra on the earths surface? I know the "track" can be thousands of miles long.... but what is the actual size of the circle, lets say it's "width" or diameter
