Why do people always use physical terms to describe something non-physical or 'spiritual' happening?

For example: Ascending into heaven - 'ascending' is a physical movement describing a direction, casting a spell - 'casting' is a physical process such as casting a net, your soul leaving your body - 'leaving' is a physical process such as leaving to go on a trip, these are just a few examples. I realize that these are metaphorical uses of the physical terminology, but why isn't there spiritual terminology for these kinds of actions? After all, God, Spirit, Heaven, Hell, Spells, Soul etc are all spiritual terms - why only nouns and no verbs??? Why must descriptions of spiritual actions always involve use of physical terminology?
